Peter W. Colmer

Peter W. Colmer is a 1970 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Princeton University, with an A.B. degree in History and Economics.  After graduating from Princeton and teaching at a private high school for two years, he was employed as a commercial banker at The First National Bank of Atlanta (now part of Wells Fargo/Wachovia Bank) in 1972.  Initially assigned to the Management Development Department, he was moved to a group known as Industrial Loans and Leasing in 1975, concentrating on business development and credit underwriting for the Bank's term loan products.

In 1978, Peter Colmer and another individual formed Southern Capital Savings Corporation, originally for the purpose of providing advisory services to equipment vendors and middle market companies for their leasing and term debt requirements.  Over time, the service offerings expanded to include advisory services related to early stage financings, leveraged buyouts, and other complex corporate finance transactions.  Southern Capital completed numerous financings for vendor-related programs, foreign owned entities, and health care organizations in the southeastern United States.

After selling his share of Southern Capital Savings Corporation to his partner in 1985, Peter Colmer joined Space Master International, a client company, as a Vice President with operating responsibility for the Bid Department and Bank Relations.  This company had a nationwide presence in the mobile office and modular building business and was a growth company with aggressive capital requirements; Mr. Colmer helped arrange major strategic financings to allow this growth to continue despite a minimal equity base.

In 1988, Peter Colmer formed Colmer and Company, which ultimately became the foundation for Finley, Colmer and Company.  This firm was organized to provide financial advisory services as described above, with an increased emphasis on troubled and under-performing companies.  Since 1988, Peter Colmer has worked on more than 250 client engagements including refinance and capital formation projects, restructuring advisory and interim management assignments, and merger and acquisition mandates.  He has been responsible for completed transactions whose aggregate value exceeds $1 billion.
